- Appropriate in
- Adults ≈152–193 cm (the range Devine derived from). Shorter or taller adults are extrapolations.
- Limitations
- An estimation aid, not a measured weight and not a therapeutic target on its own.
- Extrapolating the linear formula to heights far outside the derivation range is not validated.
- Originally derived for gentamicin dosing; it is a body-size estimate, not a prescription.
