Pediatric Dose Calculator
Daily and per-dose amount from a mg/kg/day regimen
Equation & limitations
- Equation
- Daily total (mg/day) = dose (mg/kg/day) × weight (kg); per-dose = daily total ÷ doses/day
- Version
- Site-defined arithmetic from a prescribed mg/kg/day regimen
- Source
- Defined by Pharmapedia for this tool. NOT a substitute for a recognised paediatric dosing reference.
- Appropriate in
- Only where a prescriber has already specified a mg/kg/day value for this child.
- Limitations
- The per-dose figure assumes the daily total is divided into EQUAL doses — true only if the prescriber intends equal division.
- No age-, indication-, or formulation-based checks; many paediatric drugs are dosed from body surface area or age bands.
- Does not scale an adult dose; never dose a child from a scaled adult dose.
