Overview
Aluminium acetate is astringent. It reduces edema and inflammation of the ear by producing an acidic environment hostile to pathogenic bacteria; It is also hygroscopic. It has also been used in dermatology as astringent lotions for irritating skin conditions.
Indications
Aluminium Acetate is primarily indicated in conditions like Otitis externa, Inflammatory skin conditions
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Aluminium Acetate
Side Effects
The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute over dosage of Aluminium Acetate include Nausea, Diarrhea, Hematemesis, Melena, Burning/stinging, Itching, Skin dryness
Warnings
Aluminium acetate should be used with caution in patients with any pre-existing illness or have any allergy.
Do not use with Occlusive dressing
Avoid contact with eyes
High Risk Groups
Should not be given to pregnant or nursing mother and neonates If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
