Attapulgite is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity, Febrile illness.

WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect: Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever ; wheezing ; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Attapulgite should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing heart disease, bowel disease or allergy. It is classified as pregnancy category B. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or lactation. If rehydration becomes necessary as a result of the diarrhea and the consequent dehydration, ORS therapy should be initiated. If high fever or blood in the stool that appear or if the diarrhea persists after 2 days, the treatment should be discontinued, and a clinical and microbiological assessment made.

Drug should not be given to Cardiac / Hypertensive Patients, and Geriatrics. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.

1200 to 1500 mg (1400 (1350)) As recommended. PO — After each loose motion. Up to max. 8 g.
