Overview
Bezafibrate is anti-hyperlipidemic agent. Bezafibrate is used to reduce high blood fats and cholesterol levels.
Indications
Bezafibrate is primarily indicated in conditions like Hypercholesterolemia, Prophylaxis of NSAID-associated gastric or duodenal ulcer.
Contraindications
Bezafibrate is contraindicated in conditions like Renal failure,Liver cirrhosis,Nephrotic syndrome,Hypoalbuminaemia.
Side Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Bezafibrate are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Nausea, GI distention, Myositis syndrome.
Warnings
Bezafibrate should not be given to patients with severe liver or kidney impairment, primary biliary cirrhosis, gallstone or gallbladder disorder or hypoalbuminemia state.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, and Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Adult Dosage
200 mg (200 (200)) 8 hourly PO — With or after food.
