Overview
Carmellose employed in artificial tears and as a pharmaceutical aid in drug formulations.
Indications
Carmellose is primarily indicated in conditions like Constipation, Diarrhea, Flatulence.
Contraindications
Carmellose is contraindicated in conditions like Pregnancy, Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Carmellose are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Nausea, Vomiting, Abdominal pain.
Warnings
It should be used with caution in patient with cardiac disease, hepatic disease, peptic ulcer disease, hypothyroidism, renal disease, renal impairment, cholelithiasis, during lactation, children, and in pregnancy.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
