Caspofungin is an antifungal medicine that fights infections caused by fungus.

Contraindications
You should not use caspofungin if you are allergic to it.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
liver disease ; or an allergic reaction.
It is not known whether caspofungin will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
It may not be safe to breast-feed while using caspofungin. Ask your doctor about any risk.
Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction (hives, difficult breathing, swelling in your face or throat) or a severe skin reaction ( fever , sore throat , burning in your eyes, skin pain, red or purple skin rash that spreads and causes blistering and peeling).
Tell your doctor at once if you have:
pain, swelling, or vein irritation around the IV needle; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; swelling in your hands or feet; weakness, muscle cramps, pounding or uneven heartbeats; low potassium --confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling; or liver problems -- nausea , upper stomach pain, itching , tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Common side effects include:
diarrhea ; fever, chills; abnormal liver function tests; skin rash; or dizziness, feeling light-headed.

Adult Dosage
50 mg (50 (50)) 24 hourly IV — An initial dose of 70 mg by i.v.-infusion is given followed by 50 mg i.v. daily. If no response is seen or if inducers of caspofungin clearance are coadministered the daily dose may be increased to 70 mg i.v. An infusion should take approximately 1 hour.
