Overview
Cresol is used as a disinfectant (that inhibits or kills the microorganism). It is also used as a inhalant for the relief of congestion in asthma, bronchitis and the common cold etc.
Indications
Cresol is primarily indicated in conditions like Dental caries, Dental infections, Disinfection of wounds, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Burns, Sunburn.
Contraindications
Cresol is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Cresol, which give rise to further complications include Hemolytic anemia. Cresol produces potentially life-threatening effects which include cancer risks, chronic systemic, poisoning. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Cresol therapy. The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Cresol are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Hypersensitivity, Caustic to skin.

Do not swallow. Do not allow material to come into contact with intact skin or mucosa. Wear eye protection when handling. Ensure proper tooth isolation, including rubber dam when applying. Keep out of reach of children. For professional dental use only.
