Overview
Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether (C8H16O4) an ethylene-series glycol ether. Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether is a colorless liquid with a mild odor. It is dissolvable in water and most organic solvents. Glycol ethers are primarily used as solvents in various formulations, such as: cleaning fluids, paints and wood stains, coatings and inks. [ 1 ]
Indications

Contraindications
Ether is contraindicated in conditions like Raised intracranial pressure, Pyrexia.
Side Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Ether, which give rise to further complications include Cardiac arrest, PT Time, BGL, Capillary decoding. Ether produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Hypersensitivity reactions, Convulsions, ECG abnormalities, which are responsible for the discontinuation of Ether therapy. The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute over dosage of Ether include Apnea, Cardiotoxicity. The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Ether are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Vomiting, Disturbed renal function, Hepatic degenerative changes.
Warnings
It should not be used in period of metabolic stress. Deep ether anesthesia should be avoided in any patients with serious systemic disease, especially of cardiovascular system, respiratory system, kidneys or liver.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, patients suffering from Kidney dysfunction, patients suffering from Liver Malfunction, and Neonates. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Adult Dosage
3 to 5 % (4 (4)) As recommended. Inhalation — As Required

3 to 5 % (4 (4)) As recommended. Inhalation — As Required
Neonatal Dosage
3 to 5 % (4 (4)) As recommended. Inhalation — As Required
