Contraindications
Fluorescein is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side Effects
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your
doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:
Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever ; wheezing ;
tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue,
or throat. Change in eyesight, eye pain, or very bad eye irritation. Chest pain. Very bad dizziness or passing out. This medicine may cause tissue damage if the drug leaks from the vein. Tell your nurse if you have any redness, burning, pain, swelling,
blisters, skin sores, or leaking of fluid where the drug is going into your body.
Warnings
Care must be taken to avoid extravasation during injection as the high pH of fluorescein solution can result in severe local tissue damage. Complications resulting from extravasation can cause severe pain in the arm for up to several hours. Caution is to be exercised in patients with a history of allergy or bronchial asthma. An emergency tray should be available in the event of possible reaction to FLUORESCITE Injection 10%. Use only if the container is undamaged.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, and Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
