Overview
Framycetin (Sulphate) is antibiotic and is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including skin. Antibiotics require constant drug level in body for therapeutic effect. This is achieved by taking the drug at regular interval of time throughout the day and night as prescribed. Framycetin (Sulphate) is important to take the drug for the full time period as prescribed. If you discontinue the drug it may result in ineffective treatment.
Indications
Framycetin (Sulphate) is primarily indicated in conditions like Bacterial infections, Burns and scalds, , ENT infections, GI infections, Infections of bladder, Skin infections, Surgical infections, Surgical lesions, Traumatic injury, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Decontamination of digestive tract.
Contraindications
Framycetin (Sulphate) is contraindicated in conditions like Tuberculosis, Viral eye infection, Glaucoma.
Side Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Framycetin (Sulphate), which give rise to further complications include Ototoxicity, GI symptoms, Posterior subcapsular cataract.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Framycetin (Sulphate) are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Inflammation, Irritation, Itching, Contact dermatitis, Burning sensation, Stinging, pruritus(less commonly).
Warnings
People known hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to the excipient should avoid contact with this product.
Allergy or hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients may appear.
When handling the product, avoid oral exposure and direct contact with skin and eyes. Wash hands after use.
If accidental eye contact occurs, wash immediately with copious amounts of water.
Keep out of reach of children.

Adult Dosage
0.5 % (0.5 (0.5)) 8 hourly Topical — As Required
Scraped Dose — Shake the bottle before use.
Instill 5-10 drops of Canaural into the ear canal twice daily. The ear flap should then be held and the ear canal gently massaged to ensure maximum penetration of the Canaural suspension.
Wash hands after use.
One 15 mL bottle will treat one ear for approximately two weeks.
The length of treatment will depend upon the individual case, but a maximum treatment period of 7 days is recommended. When ear mite infestation is present, consideration should be given to treating both ears even if infestation is apparent in only one. Treatment should continue for at least 3 weeks to ensure that successive generations of ear mites are killed. All animals in contact with the infected animal should also be treated.
Following recovery the ears should be checked at regular intervals for any sign of re-infection.
