Frangula bark is an anthraquinone stimulant laxative. Hydroxyanthracene Glycorides
Indications
Frangula Bark is primarily indicated in conditions like Constipation.
Contraindications
Frangula Bark is contraindicated in conditions like Appendicitis,Crohn's disease,Pregnancy,Lactation,Bowel obstruction.
Side Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Frangula Bark, which give rise to further complications include Potassium depletion, Diarrhea, Cardiac disorders, Asthema.The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Frangula Bark include Constipation, Muscular weakness, Loss of electrolytes.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Frangula Bark are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Abdominal pain, Hypersensitivity reactions, Spasm.
Warnings
Should be use with caution to sick persons, elderly, pregnant and nursing women. Long term use should be avoided.
