Overview
Gadopentetic Acid is used for enhancement in imaging of cranial and spinal structures, of the whole body and of the gastro-intestinal tract and for the evaluation of renal function.
Indications
Gadopentetic Acid is primarily indicated in conditions like Arthrography, Correction of severe hypokalaemia, Radiological contrast agent.
Contraindications
Gadopentetic Acid is contraindicated in conditions like Renal impairment, Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Gadopentetic Acid, which give rise to further complications include Convulsions, Allergy, Hypotension. Gadopentetic Acid produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Renal Impairment. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Gadopentetic Acid therapy. The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Gadopentetic Acid are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Weakness, Dizziness, Tiredness, Headache, Fever, Chills, Allergic reactions, Nausea and vomiting, Syncope, Agitation, Vasodilation, Weakness.
Warnings
Gadopentetic acid should be given with caution in patients with severe renal impairment, epilepsy, hypotension, history of hypersensitivity, asthma or other allergic respiratory disorder.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, and patients suffering from Kidney dysfunction. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
