It is used to prevent hepatitis B infection .

Contraindications

Hepatitis B Vaccine is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity, Acute severe febrile illness.

Side Effects

WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect: Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing ; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. A burning, numbness, or tingling feeling that is not normal. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Trouble controlling body movements. Change in eyesight. High fever.

Warnings

Caution and appropriate care should be exercised in administering the vaccine to individuals with severely compromised cardiopulmonary status or to others in whom a febrile or systemic reaction could pose a significant risk. The healthcare provider should determine the current health status and previous vaccination history of the vaccine. Injection of a blood vessel should be avoided. Dialyzed or immunocompromised patients may need further doses special caution during pregnancy

High Risk Groups

Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, Cardiac / Hypertensive Patients, patients suffering from Liver Malfunction, and Neonates. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.

Adult Dosage

20 ug (20 (20)) As recommended. IM — Or 1ml. A series of three IM injections at 0, 1 and 2 months or 0, 1 and 6 months is required to achieve the optimal protection.
