Contraindications
Human Albumin is contraindicated in conditions like Congestive heart failure.
Side Effects
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your
doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:
Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever ; wheezing ;
tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue,
or throat. Signs of high blood pressure like very bad headache or dizziness, passing out, or change in eyesight. Signs of fluid and electrolyte problems like mood changes, confusion, muscle pain or weakness, a heartbeat that does not feel normal, very
bad dizziness or passing out, fast heartbeat , more thirst, seizures , feeling very tired or weak, not hungry, unable to pass urine or change in
the amount of urine produced, dry mouth , dry eyes, or very bad upset stomach or throwing up. Headache. Shortness of breath , a big weight gain, or swelling in the arms or legs.
Warnings
Albumin should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. It should be used with caution in patients with any pre-existing heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, blood disorders, anemia or any allergy especially to protein
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Cardiac / Hypertensive Patients, and Geriatrics.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Adult Dosage
0.5 to 1 g/ kg/dose (0.75 (0.75)) 24 hourly IV — Repeat every 1-2 days. Usual dose 25g. No more than 250g should be administered within 48 hours. Maximum dose 6g/kg/dose
100 ml (100 (100)) As recommended. IV-inf — 1-2 ml/min, of 25 % solution.
Child Dosage
2.5 to 0 ml/kg (1.2 (1.25)) 24 hourly Intra Venous Infusion — Infuse over 30-60 Min
Neonatal Dosage
250 to 500 mg/kg (380 (375)) 24 hourly Infusion — Over 30 to 60 minutes
