Isoxsuprine belongs to the group of medicines called vasodilators. Vasodilators increase the size of blood vessels. Isoxsuprine is used to treat problems resulting from poor blood circulation.

Contraindications
Isoxsuprine is contraindicated in conditions like Anemia, Heart disease, Hypersensitivity, Arterial hemorrhage, Postpartum, Premature detachment of placenta.
Side Effects
Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Rare
Chest pain dizziness or faintness (more common for injection) fast heartbeat (more common for injection) shortness of breath skin rash
Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Warnings
Isoxsuprine should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or lactation. It should be used with caution in patients with any blood disorders, bleeding episodes or allergies. Cautions should be taken when driving because Isoxsuprine may cause dizziness. Rise slowly from a sitting or lying position to avoid falling.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Paediatrics, and Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Adult Dosage
0.071 to 0.142 mg/kg (0.11 (0.1065)) 3 hourly IM — For 1 Day, then 4-6 hourly for further 2 days
0.285 mg/kg (0.28 (0.285)) 4 hourly PO — Maintenance
3 to 4 ug/kg/min (3.5 (3.5)) As recommended. IV Inf — Initially for 24-Hours, As Required
