Contraindications
Metyrapone is contraindicated in conditions like Adrenal insufficiency.
Side Effects
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect: Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever ; wheezing ; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of a weak adrenal gland like a very bad upset stomach or throwing up, very bad dizziness or passing out, muscle weakness, feeling very tired, mood changes, not hungry, or weight loss . Very bad dizziness or passing out.
Warnings
Metyrapone should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. It should be used with caution in patients with any pre-existing thyroid disorder or any allergy or hepatic impairment.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.

14.28 mg/kg (14 (14.28)) 8 hourly PO — -
Child Dosage
15 mg/kg (15 (15)) 4 hourly Oral — 6 divided doses
Neonatal Dosage
15 mg/kg (15 (15)) 4 hourly Oral — For One Day
