Overview
Pine Tar is obtained by the destructive distillation of the wood of various trees of family Pinaceae. Pine Tar is used in various antipruritic and antiseptic preparations. Pine Tar is used topically in certain inflammatory conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis.
Indications
Pine Tar is primarily indicated in conditions like Dandruff, Eczema, Psoriasis, Seborrheic dermatitis, Skin diseases.
Contraindications
Pine Tar is contraindicated in conditions like Whooping cough, Bronchial asthma.
Side Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Pine Tar are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include CNS depression, Pulmonary edema, Local corrosion with pain, Nausea, vomiting, sweating, and diarrhea (when ingested).
