Side Effects
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your
doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:
Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever ; wheezing ;
tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue,
or throat. Any unexplained bruising or bleeding. Fever or chills. Sore throat . Seizures . Extra muscle action. Diarrhea is common with antibiotics . Rarely, a severe form called C diff–associated diarrhea ( CDAD ) may happen. Sometimes, this has led
to a deadly bowel problem ( colitis ). CDAD may happen during or a few months after taking antibiotics. Call your doctor right away if you have
stomach pain, cramps, or very loose, watery, or bloody stools. Check with your doctor before treating diarrhea.
Warnings
Piperacillin should be used with caution in patients with any other illness or any allergy especially to penicillin or other antibiotics. It should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or lactation.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Adult Dosage
14000 to 21000 mg (18000 (17500)) As recommended. IV — Daily in div.doses
Child Dosage
25 to 75 mg/kg (50 (50)) 6 hourly Intra Venous — -
Neonatal Dosage
25 to 75 mg/kg (50 (50)) 6 hourly Intravenous —
Drug Interactions

Patient should report any sign of bleeding to physician. These interactions are sometimes beneficial and sometimes may pose threats to life. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
Storage
Inj Store Below 40°C. Inj (Reconstituted soln) Store at room temperature or refrigerator. Freezing is recommended. Use within I month(-15c) if freezed, within 1 week if refrigerated and within 24 hrs if kept at room temperature.
