Overview
Prenylamine is an adrenergic agent that depletes myocardial catecholamine stores and have some calcium channel blocking activity.It is previously used in the treatment of angina pectoris but is superseded by less hazardous substances.
Indications
Prenylamine is primarily indicated in conditions like Angina pectoris.
Contraindications
Prenylamine is contraindicated in conditions like Porphyria.
Side Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Prenylamine, which give rise to further complications include Tremors, ECG abnormalities.Prenylamine produces potentially life-threatening effects which include QT prolongation, Ventricular arrhythmias. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Prenylamine therapy.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Prenylamine are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Extra pyramidal symptoms.
