Rhubarb is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. Most reported clinical trials have been small and poorly designed, and in some studies, a number of different herbs were coadministered with rhubarb, making it difficult to evaluate which herb contributed to the outcomes.

Contraindications
Rhubarb is contraindicated in conditions like Ileus,Pregnancy,Bowel obstruction.
Side Effects
The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Rhubarb include Diarrhea, Hypokalemia, Abdominal discomfort.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Rhubarb are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Cramps, Colic.
Warnings
Rhubarb should not be given undiagnosed abdominal pain. Care should be taken in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Prolong use should generally be avoided.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Adult Dosage
0.1 to 4 g/day (2 (2.05)) As recommended. PO — For constipation, diarrhea, or upset stomach
