Overview
Rofecoxib is NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and a selective COX-2 inhibitor. It reduces swelling and relieves the pain. Rofecoxib is used for symptomatic relieve of pain in osteoarthritis.
Indications
Rofecoxib is primarily indicated in conditions like Dysmenorrhea, Osteoarthritis, Pain, Rheumatoid arthritis, Schizophrenia and other psychoses.

Side Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Rofecoxib are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Dizziness, Nausea, Diarrhea, Increased intracranial pressure, Abdominal pain, Upper RTIs, Heart burn, UTIs.
Warnings
Use with caution in advance renal disease, moderate to severe liver disease, use in pregnancy and in lactating mother is not recommended.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, patients suffering from Kidney dysfunction, and patients suffering from Liver Malfunction. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
