Contraindications

Sodium Phosphate is contraindicated in conditions like Hypocalcemia, Hypernatremia, Hyperphosphatemia, Renal failure, Perforated bowel, Ulcerative colitis, Fecal impaction.

Side Effects

WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect: Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever ; wheezing ; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of fluid and electrolyte problems like mood changes, confusion, muscle pain or weakness, a heartbeat that does not feel normal, very bad dizziness or passing out, fast heartbeat , more thirst, seizures , feeling very tired or weak, not hungry, unable to pass urine or change in the amount of urine produced, dry mouth , dry eyes, or very bad upset stomach or throwing up. Chest pain or pressure.

Warnings

Sodium phosphate should be used with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment, cirrhosis, cardiac failure and other sodium retaining states. Caution must be exercised in the administration of parenteral fluids, especially those containing sodium ions, to patients receiving corticosteroids or corticotropin. Do not administer unless solution is clear and seal is intact. Discard unused portion.

High Risk Groups

Drug should not be given to Pediatrics, Cardiac/Hypertensive Patients, and patients suffering from Kidney dysfunction. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.

Adult Dosage

800 mg (800 (800)) 24 hourly PO —

Child Dosage

53.33 mg/kg (53 (53.33)) As recommended. Oral — As required

Neonatal Dosage

30 to 45 mg/kg (38 (37.5)) As recommended. Oral — As required

Drug Interactions

Storage

Syrup, enema, paste Store in a well closed container, at room temperature, Between 15°C-30°C. Protect from Sunlight, Moisture and Heat.
