Contraindications
Tetanus Toxoid is contraindicated in conditions like Anaphylactic reactions, Hypersensitivity to any component of product.
Side Effects
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect: Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash ; hives; itching ; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever ; wheezing ; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. High fever. Dizziness or passing out. A burning, numbness, or tingling feeling that is not normal. Trouble walking. Feeling very tired or weak.
Warnings
Toxoid should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or lactation. It should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing infections, asthma a history of a reaction to a previous vaccination or any allergy, especially to horse serum.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Neonates. If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Adult Dosage
40 IU (40 (40)) As recommended. IM — 2 Inj. at an interval of 4 weeks. 3rd Inj. after 3-12 months, 4th inj. after 1 year and then after 5 years. Booster Dose, Every 10-Years

Drug Interactions
Tetanus Toxoid is known to interact with other drugs, the details of drug interactions is as follows:DrugDetailsSeverityOnsetManagementCimetidine (HCl)Tetanus Immune Globulin (Human)Never administer tetanus toxoid and Tetanus Immune Globulin (Human) in same syringe as toxoid will be neutralized.Toxoid may be given at a separate site. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
