Medicine Storage in Hot Weather: Read the Product Requirements

There is no single storage temperature

Storage requirements are product-specific. Read the package and leaflet instead of assuming that every tablet, liquid or inhaler can tolerate the same conditions. Guidance for a medicine before opening can differ from its in-use instructions.

Plan before a hot journey

Ask your pharmacist how to transport your particular medicine and whether cooling is needed. Explain how long the journey will take and whether reliable temperature control is available. Do not put every medicine in a refrigerator by default.

If storage conditions were exceeded

Keep the medicine's name, formulation, estimated temperature and exposure duration available. Ask a pharmacist for an assessment. Appearance alone does not establish that the product remains suitable. Do not invent a new expiry date or discard essential treatment without arranging professional advice and replacement if needed.
