Clinical Features
- High grade fevers
- Breathlessness
- Cough productive of large amounts of foul-smelling sputum
- Hemoptysis
Investigations
- CBC, CXR, HRCT-chest and culture and sensitivity of pus drainage
Management
- Postural drainage + culture and sensitivity
- Inj Amplus (Ampicillin+Cloxacillin) 500mg-1000mg IV x TDS initially then orally for 4-6 weeks
- Inf Flagyl (Metronidazole) 500mg/100ml IV TDS initially then orally for 4-6 weeks
- Change antibiotics according to C/S
- Tab Wilgesic/ Nuberol (Paracetamol+Orphenadrine) PO X BD for 5 days.
