Clinical Features

  • High grade fevers
  • Breathlessness
  • Cough productive of large amounts of foul-smelling sputum
  • Hemoptysis

Investigations

  • CBC, CXR, HRCT-chest and culture and sensitivity of pus drainage

Management

  • Postural drainage + culture and sensitivity
  • Inj Amplus (Ampicillin+Cloxacillin) 500mg-1000mg IV x TDS initially then orally for 4-6 weeks
  • Inf Flagyl (Metronidazole) 500mg/100ml IV TDS initially then orally for 4-6 weeks
  • Change antibiotics according to C/S
  • Tab Wilgesic/ Nuberol (Paracetamol+Orphenadrine) PO X BD for 5 days.
