Diagnostic Features
- Seen primarily in immigrants from developing countries or immunocompromised patients
- Back pain and gibbus deformity
- Radiographic evidence of vertebral involvement
- Evidence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in aspirate or biopsies of spinal lesions
Management
Tab- Ethambutol;Isoniazid;Rifamoicin;Pyrazinamide (Myrin – P) 4 tablets PO x OD for 2 months
Tab-Pyridoxine 1 (Vita-6) tab PO x OD throughout the treatment
After 2 months give, Tab- Rimactal INH ' OR ' adjust treatment according to culture and sensitivity and continue it regularly for 4-7 months
Surgical intervention, however, may be indicated when their neurologic compromise or severe spinal instability.
