A brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain. An aneurysm often looks like a berry hanging on a stem.
Signs and symptoms
- Nausea and vomiting
- Stiff neck
- Blurred or double vision
- Sensitivity to light
- Seizure
- A drooping eyelid
- Loss of consciousness
- Confusion
Diagnosis
CT-Scan, X-ray, MRI, Cerebral angiogram
Extended release
Acetaminophen (Tylenol)2 cap 1300mg oral every 8 hours
Immediate release
325mg to 1g oral every 4-6 hours
Nimodipine (nimotop) 2 cap (each 30mg)
Lisinopril (Zestril) 5mg OD ≥ 50kg and 2.5mg OD ≤ 50kg
Surgery (surgical clipping of aneurysm)
Endovascular treatment (insert a catheter into an artery through wrist and groin up into the artery containing aneurysm)
Flow diverter newer treatment (tubular stent like implant divert a blood flow away from aneurysm sac)
Speech and occupational therapy
Ventricular or lumbar draining catheters and shunt surgery
