Introduction
Dystonic movements result from a slow sustained muscle contraction or spasm that can result in an involuntary movement and fixed posture involving the neck muscles, jaw, tongue, etc.
- Involvement of eyes can result in oculogyric crisis.
Treatment
- Promethazine (Phenergan 25-50 mg IM) or
- Anticholinergic drugs—IM (Benzhexol) or
- Diazepam 10 mg IV very slowly.
