It is hereditary disease mainly affecting males but transmitted by females and characterized by prolong coagulation and a life long tendency to excessive hemorrhage
Types of Hemophilia
Hemophilia A: When factor VIII is deficientHemophilia B: When factor IX is deficient
symptoms
- Internal bleeding of mouth, gums, lips, brain and kidney
- Muscle hematoma
- Joints become hot, swollen and very painful
Treatment
Blood tests to determine if clotting factors are missing or at low levels, and which ones are causing the problem.
Treatment
- Factor VIII concentrate by infusion (Hemophilia A)
- Factor XI infusion (Hemphilia B)
