- Cover sucking wounds to prevent pneumothorax
- Potent analgesics for uncomplicated fracture of ribs. Intercostal nerve block can also be tried.
- Intercostal drainage for pneumothorax compromising ventilation. For hemothorax, drain the blood and observe for any further bleeding
- Pericardiocentesis in cases of cardiac tamponade. Major injuries should require management in consultation with cardiothoracic surgeon.
