Features

Pain in throat

  • Pyrexia, difficulty in swallowing
  • Inflamed and swollen tonsils may be with pus points

Management

  • Avoid mucosal irritants like beetle nut/ tobacco / lime chewing. Usually, self-limiting. No treatment needed.
  • Usual practice is to give-
  • Tab Polybion (Vitamin B complex) 1 tab once daily for a week And/or
  • Benzycol (Chlorhexidine) mouth wash 2-3 times a day for a week If severe also use
  • boroglycerine gel or paste use twice daily
  • Tab Flagyl (metronidazole) 400 mg TDS x 5 days
