Management of Blepharitis

Introduction
Inflammation Of Eyelids Margins. Blepharitis usually affects both eyes along the edges of the eyelids. Blepharitis commonly occurs when tiny oil glands near the base of the eyelashes become clogged, causing irritation and redness. Several diseases and conditions can cause blepharitis.
Management
- Eye drops: Oxcin-D eye drops 1 x 6 for 1 week
- Eye ointment: Tobrex or Chloramphenicol eye ointment at bedtime.
- Tab- Augmentin (Amoxicillin+ Clavulanic acid) 625mg 1 tab TDS or Tab- Novidat 500mg 1 tab x BD for 5 days
- Tab - Softin (Loratadine) or Zyrtec / Rigix (Cetirizine) 10mg or any other oral anti - allergic 1 tablet PO x OD at night for 5 days.
- Wash eye lashes with Johnson baby shampoo.
