Introduction

Any substance that when injected, inhaled , absorbed, or applied to the body in relatively small amounts may by its chemical action, cause death or injury.

The word poison comes from the Latin word, “ potare” , which means to drink but the poisons can also enter the body through other way as well.

  • By breathing
  • Through skin
  • By I.V injection
  • From exposure to radiation
  • Venom from snake bite etc.
