Useful especially for those on antimicrobial therapy – Useful for enteric fever, tuberculosis, etc. – Preparation of puncture site, as for surgical incision – Add specimen to blood culture media (Routine blood culture report takes 7 – 10 days or longer – 6 weeks for Brucellosis).
