- Mid stream urine sample is collected into sterile container after genital toilet. – If on indwelling catheter, aspirate from the proximal end after disinfecting the area (never collect from urobag) (Culture of Foleys catheter tip is not useful).
Suprapubic Aspiration – For infants and children below 6 years. – Also when anaerobic cultures are required.
Urine – AFB Culture – 3 consecutive early morning whole urine samples in a large sterile container (Urine may be refrigerated and transported on the third day to the laboratory).
