- May be used in neonates and debilitated adults. When Delay is Inevitable in Transport of Specimens
- Use moist swabs (Most pathogenic bacteria are susceptible to drying)
- Samples likely to contain abundant microbial flora (urine, faeces, etc) are to be refrigerated
- Blood and CSF samples for bacterial culture should be left at room temperature or incubate (Never refrigerate). Transport Media May be Used
- Amies medium - swabs – Cary Blair medium or glycerol saline - stool sample.
