Management

Stage1: 140-160/90-100

Stage2: 160/100 above

Hypertensive emergency: 180/100 above

Non-Pharmacological therapy

  1. Low salt diet
  2. Exercise
  3. Avoid smoking
  4. Avoid alcohol
  5. Avoid stress

Pharmacological

Stage1:

A: If age less than 50 years

Tab Captopril (Capoten) 25 mg, half tab BD. OR

Tab Ramipril (Ramipace) 5mg 1xOD OR Tab Renitec 5mg 1xOD

B: If age more than 50 years, Then CCBs

Tab Amlodipine (Lodopin) 5mg 1xBD

C: Combination therapy:

Tab Valsartan +Amlodipine (Valtec AM) 5/60, 10/60, 10/100, 1xOD. OR Tab Avsar 5/60, 1xOD

D: HTN With pregnancy:

Tab Methyldopa (Aldomet) 250mg, 1xBD, if emergency during pregnancy, then

Tab Labetalol 100mg, 1xBD, OR Tab Prazocin

Inj Labetalol 50mg IV stat, repeat every 10 minutes
